CPS Launches Cordius Group
CPS Adds Windpower to "Print Green"
CPS Printing Launches Cordius Group
New Digital Print Solutions Division
Carlsbad, CA, March 25, 2007: CPS Printing has launched a new digital print solutions division called Cordius Group. Cordius Group specializes in results-based direct marketing campaigns, using advanced data-analytics and the latest in digital printing technology. The new division will support a wide-variety of client projects, including variable data, quick-turn, and short-run printing projects. A key focus of Cordius Group will be the support of client marketing programs, with a product line that covers direct marketing strategies, direct mail campaigns, database management, and client retention strategies.
“We help our clients build and maintain relationships with their customers,” reports Dave Wilkey, director of Cordius Group. “We also help them model, identify and rank new potential clients that match their current customer profiles. Some of these programs involve digitally printed, variable data marketing materials; others involve highly specialized customer models. Each program is unique to the needs of our client.”
Cordius Group will operate as a division of Carlsbad-based CPS Printing, one of San Diego’s largest commercial printing firms. Cordius Group occupies a newly remodeled building directly adjacent to the CPS Printing production facility. The new digital print division compliments the established offset printing and finishing capabilities of CPS Printing.
“We have been printing for some of San Diego’s largest companies for over 20 years,” states Philip Lurie, president of CPS Printing. “We have witnessed amazing technological advancements over that time, but nothing as compelling as digital printing. I really think digital printing technology will revolutionize the printing industry and the marketplace as a whole.”

CPS Printing Expands “Printing Green” Conservation Initiative By Adding Wind Power
CARLSBAD, CA, May 12, 2007: CPS Printing recently announced the addition of wind power to their “Printing Green” environmental strategy. By purchasing 1,200 annual Megawatt-hours of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to offset 100% of the energy used by the CPS Printing production facilities and offices, CPS Printing has taken another important step in conserving the Earth’s natural resources. This annual commitment has the equivalent environmental benefit of planting 631 acres of trees or taking 164 cars off local roads.
“This recent wind power initiative is aligned with our strategy to seek and implement environmentally superior options for our business operations,” said Philip Lurie, president of CPS Printing. “Our Printing Green strategy is a comprehensive effort to incorporate those energy-saving initiatives that create the greatest possible benefits for our community and our environment.”
Some of the other key pieces to the CPS Printing “Printing Green” strategy include recycling paper waste, recycling ink, reducing VOC emissions, use of energy efficient lighting, and promoting client education in the use of recycled paper and soy-based ink products.
“Many of our early steps were just common sense,” reports Ron Bass, production manager at CPS Printing. “They have evolved into a comprehensive program to recycle everything from make-readies to plates. The wind power initiative takes our current environmental strategy to an exciting new level. Our customers really appreciate our efforts to preserve the environment.”
With over 20 years in the industry, CPS Printing is one of San Diego’s largest commercial printers, offering complete offset printing, digital printing, finishing, and fulfillment capabilities.
